Oh man this shit is NICE! had a test today and this mix got me through it. Im on my 2nd time round with it. Played it first time through and was half done the test. Shit was nice the first time around, figued id do it up again! So the tracks on here are a pretty good representation of the cover. Some really spacey laid back tracks. It ranges from psych to weird vibes to twangy country. This is a space oddisee! a smokers deilight! If ya want a chill but tripped out mix pick this one up. Play it for your friends, if ya catch the right atmosphere with this mix you will be praised!

This is one of my Favorite Bobby Humphrey albums "Satin Doll" 1974. For the longest time i was looking for who did"My Little Girl" maybe if i asked around or did a bit more homework it woulnt of taken me as long to find out it was Bobby Humphrey the whole time. So from the get go this is a pretty upbeat album "Satin Doll" has a great PATENTED Bobby Humphrey power flute, hook. its really catchy and the piano in it holds it own as well. If your a fan of Brand Nubian you will immeditaly knotice the samle on "San Fransisco Light" this track is kinda dull , juss shouldnt of arranged it right after the 1st two upbeat tracks. Alright im not gunna review every track on this album. Basically if ya know Bobby's stuff you will know there is tons of flute and soulfull tracks.

HARLEM WORLD CREW - rappers convention 1980

this track was made the year i was born! you can tell in the early rap days that they were all using live studio bands. this was before bambaattaa was samplin kraftwerk and changing everything up! ive knoticed that the hand drums were really prominent in alot of these old tracks (thinkin bout jimmy spicer "adventure of super rhymes-DAZZ 1980") this track is really funky and for sure can get a crowd moving at a party. also its one of the few older tracks that i can remeber that its somewhat political.

This is one of my favorite ol'BDP tracks. for 1986 this track juss seems to be pushing the borders for the time. with the up tempo drums and they way scott la rock was sampling james brown. not to say that he was the 1st but he did do it with finesse, espically on "poetry" this was the stand out track for me on criminal minded. now i know lotsa people might call me a idiot with tracks like south bronx, super hoe, the bridge is over etc etc on this album, wich hold their own weight but its juss the energy the krs brings in this track. still holds up today!

2009 series

i NEED these!
my dunny collection has been goin for 3 years now. i would happily drop 500 bucks on a ultra limited edition! if i had the means! i dunno why but collecting these are crazy addictive! anyways heres 2009's set.

seems like ive been didggin the basslines as of today, heres t.s monk.

diamond d heads will know!

Whatnauts - Help Is On The Way

One of the baddest basslines.. traversing the fence nicely between technicalnoodle and rawness. Jazz bass riding on full bridge pickup no neck

de la fans will know the sample as well!

so here is that "Looks Like a Job For" from Big Daddy Kane. this album dropped in '93 and through Cold Chillin Records. I remember Kanes album before this one called Price Of Darkness. To be honest i think he fell in the softmore slump with that album. This album, not the case. Production this time was handled with more outside production as of recent. Producers are Trackmasters, Cool V, Easy Mo Bee, Mister Cee, Spark Boogie, Large Professor, Hank Shocklee and Gary G. Wiz. No real gust spots on this album, well if ya count Lil Daddy Shane (what the fuck ever happend to that dude!) anyways if ya want some dope old hip hop chek KANE OUT!

(in a khaled voice)WE DA BEST!

so ive never really heard much of any of dj khaled. remember my lil bro had his cd and said it was hot garbage! that didnt surprize me. but this isnt bout what ever he does. this is about MC DONALDS! seems like khaled seriously is down with mc d's! fuck he should get some of those corprate cheques from this!

im not sure if this is a win or a fail, but im lovin it!

i remember hearing this track on a J PERIOD mix tape ages ago. shit gave me goosebumps! KANE has always been BAD! i dunno who does the production for this track but HOT DAMN! that baseline and those horn sample are juss nasty! ive always wondered though who kane is talkin bout in his second verse? sounds like hes goin off on michael and janet. anyways next mix i make there is no way that this track isnt makin cut!

LONG LIVE THE KANE!

booze or acid?

the heading says alcohol. but im seriously thinking acid.

for the cassette tape heads!

i still collect cassette tapes! mainly oldschool hiphop tapes. i dont really look too hard for them, juss VV or thrift shops. so far ive got.

LL COOL J- IM BAD
SLICK RICK - THE GREAT ADVENTURES
GOODIE MOB-SOUL FOOL (promo edit)
BIG DADDY KANE- LONG LIVE THE KANE
FU SCHNICKER- LA SCHMOOVE
BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS- CRIMINAL MINDED

like i said, i dont have much, but its a start. everyone thats delt with tapes know that the fuckers will get ruined. here is i little help for if the problem does occure.

Another documentary pick that i dig!

This is an an older Doc. But I watched it lastnight by Murray Siple, an independent filmmaker of snow and skateboarding films, who was in a high-speed motor vehicle accident in 1996 which left him a quadriplegic. This is his doc from 07/08 I believe.

Carts of Darkness

"In the picture-postcard community of North Vancouver, filmmaker Murray Siple follows men who have turned bottle-picking, their primary source of income, into the extreme sport of shopping cart racing."

this shit is a really good watch!
