Diplo & Tripledouble - AEIOU 2

HAD! to post this mix. back in the summer/winter 2006-2007 this mix was in HEAVY rotation. HEAVY! played this so much me and the girlie friend coppied it onto tape juss so it could be taken into the shower using a old tape deck. anyways thats besides the point. this mix is EASILY in my top 5. dont know why i havent posted it yet? i like #1 alot but i got this one first so it has more of a sentimental value. i really hope ya enjoy this as much as i have over the years.

shout out to Diplo and Tripledouble.....oh and to Lee

p.s. alotta these tracks can be found through this blog.

Three Dog Night - Out in the country

Ars Nova - Sunshine and Shadows 1969

"Ars Nova was a rock/classical hybrid group formed in New York in 1967...
The merger of rock and classical music was inevitable. Ars Nova was a group of classical musicians playing rock as if the connection had existed all through time. Baroque, medieval settings were suggested from their compositions. Though extremely unique and technically professional, their short career proved that even tasteful novelty isn`t always commercial.
Ars Nova released its debut album in April 1968 and was profiled in the June 28, 1968, issue of Life magazine, hype that didn't help. The album didn't chart, the band re-organized, and there was a second album, Sunshine and Shadows, in June 1969."

WEFUNK Show 586

WEFUNK takes a "Journey into Sound" as Oakland's DJ Platurn breaks classics down & reinvents with fresh ingredients... catch a ride and re-experience Eric B & Rakim, Jurassic 5, Talib, Tribe and much more. Plus: deep dusty grooves from Donald Byrd and Puccio Roelens, inimitable wordplay on MC Abdominal's "The Hit Song," a Kev Brown collabo with DMV's Diamond District & Montreal's Metazon, and sunny soul sounds with Shuggie Otis, Donny Hathaway and the Jackson 5's long-lost Stevie Wonder track.

James Brown - In The Jungle Groove

Recording Date: Sep 3, 1969-Dec 5, 1972
This reissue of In the Jungle Groove is a further obfuscation of the original masters, though a welcome one. The album is not so much an album but a 1986 collection of James Brown singles and apocrypha from recordings of the period 1969-1971; it sounds as defining and current today as it did when it was first issued on LP. While the tracks here featured some new sidemen, a good portion of what's here is played by the original J.B.'s. For starters, there's "It's a New Day," a two-part single issued as King 45-6292 and then placed on the album It's a New Day -- So Let a Man Come In. Next is the classic "Funky Drummer," appearing on album for the first time although it was a Top 20 single in 1969. Also included here are remixed versions of tracks that appeared on the original In the Jungle Groove, such as "Give It Up or Turnit a Loose," and from the Sex Machine LP, as well as "Talkin' Loud & Sayin' Nothing." In addition, this expanded version contains mono mixes of "Get Up, Get into It and Get Involved" and "Soul Power," which was re-edited for inclusion here. In addition, the single "Hot Pants" is here and an extended reading of "Blind Man Can See It" is included as a bonus cut. While this funky, greasy mess is enough, there's also the inclusion of the previously unreleased "I Got to Move" and a ghost of bonus beats and added sounds. This does nothing but make something awesome truly stratospheric. Here the focus is on rhythm and hypnosis, that state where the hips and backbone move imperceptibly at first before coming out of their collective shell and making nasty on the dancefloor. At the height of the great hip-hop madness, 1986 was a perfect time to reintroduce these tracks from a decade and a half earlier, and now, with the unimaginative aspect of hip-hop controlling the charts, the reintroduction of real beat-conscious songcraft couldn't be more welcome.

Track list:

01.It's a New Day
02.Funky Drummer
03.Give It up or Turnit a Loose [Remix]
04.I Got to Move
05.Funky Drummer [Bonus Beat Reprise]
06.Talking Loud and Saying Nothing [Remix]
07.Get Up, Get into It, Get Involved [Mono Version]
08.Soul Power [edit]
09.Hot Pants
10.Blind Man Can See It

Starts out pretty rootsy then some Funk Rock with crazy guitar work that some might find annoying but I lately really got into the Nigerian Rock guitar... then there's a bunch of really incredible Disco-Funk and Boogie. Didn't really care at all about sticking to any genre.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

We funk radio #584

Ottawa's DJ Zattar laces the mix with chilled out beats from Didier's Sound Spectrum and Shoes, nice soul from Pamoja and Willie Wright, and soul-jazz burners from Cleveland Eaton and Donald Byrd. Plus: Dynas, Tiye Phoenix & DJ Spinna team up on "Come Along", and Brownout and Arthur Verocai bring the latin flavor.

Download "Breaking Atoms" here.

2008 reissue of the debut album from Main Source. It is widely thought of as a very influential album and it is notable for the debut of Hip Hop superstar Nas. It is also highly regarded thanks to the virtuoso production of frontman Large Professor, whose heavy, and original, use of sampling influenced Hip Hop producers for a good portion of the '90s. Nas makes his debut appearance on "Live at the Barbeque", which is also played in the background of "Genesis", the intro to his critically acclaimed album, Illmatic. Breaking Atoms is one of the most important records in the History of Hip Hop and also hard-to-find; it has been out of print in the United States since the demise of Wild Pitch Records in 1997.

Fallin like dominos - Donald Byrd
