Hip Hop Shop- oldschool special

So lastnight i played a really fun show. ive been wanting to do a oldschool rap show even before i had a chance to hop on the radio. so lastnight was my chance to start what id like to make a small series. pretty much my interpertation of the 80's. this set is pretty much '79-'81. now there might be a few tracks that slipped and is like a year older, but meh. you get the point. i was orginally gunna do 79-86 but fuck there is juss waaaay too much not to play. i wouldnt be doin the 80's justice if i was to do that in a 2 hrs span. so the set starts off with some bbc (obviously) then to fill CANCON i need to play atleast 35%. so i start the set with some local rappers. give them some air time. their shit is okay i guess, juss not my cup of tea. but that is also comin from a music snob so dont take my oppion personally. so i hope ya enjoy this set. i think some time in a month or 2 im gunna do 82-84. keep them well spaced apart. juss so it seems frsh when they come out.

Digiwax Radio 6 - Kid Capri

just listenin to this @ school as i type this. Kid Capri juss cuttin up all the old classic breaks. there is a bunch of gems that the regulars will know. he does drop a few bombs that i wasn't expecting. Juss got through some phill collins(which isn't a bad thing). the mix is pretty well done and there isnt that much screaming from Capri (which he is guilty of doing). This is DEFIANTLY gettin me through class this morning.

when i think of Flex, i juss think of Hot 97 and juss that big named dj. BUT ya gotta remember Flex knew how to dig! Fuck! all these classics hes playin is from his time! Every so often i get these youtube clips that puts a smile on my face and lets me know the older dudes still got it.

The Vapors - Show 1 jan 4 2010

So lastnighwas the first show. Turns out i was pretty damn sick with a cold. Was gunna put a playlist togther for most of the day. Each time i tried, juss had NO motivation. pretty much juss got a sence of what i wanted to play. Like the last time when i had my own (host) show, i had lots to say but when the time came i clamed right the fuck up. All in good time i guess.   So this show was only 1 hour long. Being as i felt like shit and i think for the first few shows im gunna keep short and learn the basics. But here is the OFFICIAL 1st show of "The Vapors" i really hope some that listen will enjoy.

DJ JS 1 & SPINBAD - Coldcuts Mixtape

The Cold Cutz Remixes (aka the Acapella Tape) is a classsic mixtape from '96 by the original co-founders of the legendary Cold Cutz Crew, Spinbad & JS1. (The Cold Cutz Crew included such DJ masters as DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Scratch, Richie Rich, DJ Revolution, DJ Riz, DJ A.Vee & others). The mix features a special guest appearance by DJ Scratch of EPMD. Every single one of these 30 tracks is a classic acapella over a classic beat, complete with original scratched hooks and movie samples.

had to post this mixtape. its crazy that this is 14 years old! but this shit got me through some SHITTY jobs in vancity. wakin up hatin my job and puttin this mixtape on, kinda made shit i lil better. this tape has 2 distinct features. 1- the start of Spinbads side has KRS goin RIGHT OFF! the 2nd is  these remixes were the last of their kind, ushering in biggy and puffy (who changed everything.....goood or bad)

so its new years day. my night was wild. lady luck was smiling down on me. so i never get down with new years resolutions, so if anything i wanna drop shit im down with this year. got the radio show startin this monday. plan to juss play shit that i post here. nobody really checks this blog so the radio will probably be shit i post through the week.. if for some reason you do tune in, i hope you enjoy. this show is one of the rare things that im actually gunna put time into and do my homework with it. i never really thought i was good at practicle shit, but ive been told that i can make a mean mix if applied. so 2010 should bring mixes that will get your head noddin.
