Lula Cortes - Ze Ramalho -1975

now ive listened to this album a few times. this has to be one of the best albums ive ever heard. you ever have those albums that literally find you! you dont go out looking for them, you juss end up gettin it someway and it ends up blowing you away. well this is one of those albums for me. now to start this out. i dont know anything about this dude @ all! i didnt know what i was expecting and whats on here is not what your thinking your gunna hear. this album is hard to describe. i mean its Brazilian so it obviously has those elements but there is so much more.the acoustic guitar is juss crazy and it gets really psychedelic. like REALLY PSYCHEDELIC! its somthing i could hear on the movie apocalypse now. but the whole time that its juss goin right out into space and almost tribal it some how comes back and the latter end of the record is really melodic and soothing with sounds of streams trickling. when i was listening to this @ first i was like "what the fuck is this!" and i can guarantee that not all will like this. after the album was done i had to stop and think about what i juss listened to! that usually never happens. i put it on again! like i said, this album wont be for everyone, but those that wanna take a psyched out trip and then come back, this is defiantly for you!
one of my favorites!

oh ya! if ya listen to the first track its a very good indication of what this album is all about!

Big Daddy Kane Documentary Trailer

Madlib - World Wide Radio with Gilles Peterson

so im listenin to this mix while i type this. Im not sure if this is the mix i used to have? i dont think so? im pretty sure the 1 i had was the madlib invasion? the mixing on this isnt the smoothest, but who cares! madlib drops some serious gems in this mix. tons of old jazz to weird obscure tracks. there is no doubt that further in the mix there will be some hiphop. shit i juss looked @ the status of where i was on the mix and im @ the 10mn mark. this is a 2hour mix so i havent even scratched the surface. but you know that this will be a spaced out mix!

WORLDWIDE ,WORLDWIDE!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. shout out to Gilles Peterson!!!!!!!!

so here is some of madlibs side projects. if you know madlib then you will know Quasimoto. the production of "the unseen" album is pretty top knotch. madlibs digs deap with this album. TONS of old jaszz samples and obscure weed refrences sampled in. some people might be thrown off with quasimotos high pitch voice. i personally like it! its a nice contrast to madlibs voice. lotsa times ill be listenin to Quasimoto albums and forget its the same person. one of the best party about these albums is that madlib makes a cohisive full album. its flows pretty well. the only problem i would have would be "the further adventures of lord quas" is a bit to avant gard and really spacey. now thats not a bad thing i juss think sometimes its a bit over done. its kinda like when he did the "Jay lib" album with Dilla. the tracks were solid, but he was really using tose weird obsure samples and smokin insane amounts of weed i would suppose! so i gunna drop "the unseen" album along with the instrumental album as i nce bonus. the instrumental album is some of madlibs best work so i woould advise grabbin that too, the two go well togther. the second is "the further adventures of lord quas" ive listenied to this album plenty of times, but to be honest im not that familiar with it compared to his 1st album. anyways here 3 solid weed smoking albums.

i forgot how slick shyne was!

trip to your heart- sly & the family stone

heres a nice find. you will recognize the sample right away if your a hip hop fan. the sample alone is pretty bad ass, but the track holds its own weight. there's a solid horn section and plus this has a pretty psychedelic feel to it. a sweet banger!
shouts out to jordan for this one!
HOLLA

Kool and the gang - 1969

so first off, this album IS NOT JUNGLE BOOGIE. so if your thinking "oh ya i know them" then this album will come as a suprize. they started out as a jazz band in highschool and this is their 1st album. you can tell that they are still in their infant stages of the band. for starters there is no lyrics in this album and its juss on the cusp of being jazz. but there is a strong pressence of funk in each track. this is a pretty smooth album and like kool and the gang, their horn section has always been on point. i got onto this album from the track "chocolate buttermilk" wich is one of my favorite tracks for years!
1. Kool & The Gang
2. Breeze & Soul
3. Chocolate Buttermilk
4. Sea Of Tranquility
5. Give It Up
6. Since I Lost My Baby
7. Kool's Back Again
8. The Gang's Back Again
9. Raw Hamburger
10. Let The Music Take Your Mind

Dorthy Ashby- Dorthys Harp 1969

so i got this album last friday or maybe thursday, anyways! this album is pretty solid! its got some really good covers on it, and its pretty up beat album. Dorthy is pretty bad ass on the harp too! (that sounds weird sayin that!) the album was recorded in 1969 so it has a cool feel to it. i know kayne has taken a few samples off this album so if anyone here is a huge kayne fan then you might notice them. i wasn't expecting too much off this album but it kinda came outta no where and kept me interested the whole way through. im most deff gunna be checkin for some more albums from her!
